    E-bay

If you are planning a machine with over 4'dimensions E-bay is generraly usless,I have purchased THK hsr-25's,ssr-15's etc.Hiwin's new are more cost effective,50% the cost of THK's.Hoping for the THK deal on E-bay is a waste of time.Bite the bullit and start your machine build.

Larry, you needed to buy you're stuff on Ebay about 3 years ago. You missed the boat. Fortunately, there are still some good deals out there, but you must be patient. And that could mean months. And you also need to check every 2-3 days. A few weeks ago, I saw some 9ft 15mm rails and blocks that I thought went for less than $200, $250 at the most. But your right, long rails are very rare, and there is a tendency for a lot of people to overspend, even on the small ones.

3 years ago I got a set of 18" 15mm stainless THKs for $30, and 2 sets of 26" 15mm IKO's for $65 a set. I've been looking for another 18" set, and they usually go for $100-$150 or even more.

Have you looked at the Bishop Wisecarver dual V's. Cost effective for a large machine, and if you use the hardened rails (as opposed to the homebuilt rails a lot of guys use, should be great for your big router. You can get inexpensive chinese versions from http://www.cadcamcadcam.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=107

even at these somewhat market-infalted prices, ebay can provide some great deals... it seems to me that a pair of $800 THK bearings that are in good condition and get sold for around $300 is still a great deal for whoever is willing to spend the $. im building my machine around 4 brand new 13" THK rails and bearings I got.. they are over $300 new for each rail and bearing. I got them for $30 each 2 years ago.. ive seen similar deals since

it used be better, it is true.. maybe we should censor cnczone, to reduce the competition?

    hehe
