For most of my lifetime I have been using the Inch system of measurement, and have had little exposure or experience with the Metric system. Especially when it comes to screw thread types! For seveal months now I have been building nice little Mini-Routers as a hobby, and selling them on eBay. Many of the buyers are from Europe, and they are accostomed to the Metric system. But my little Mini-Routers are designed to use a 1/2-10 Acme lead screws and delrin nuts. My question is this: What is the best Metric thread type and pitch to use as an option for those who prefer the Metric system? Eric |

Would a number like 3 be like using a 3/8-16 screw, as in moves such an strange amount per revolution (.0625) as opposed to an nice round number like 10 TPI or .1/ rev.? Also, the price of a trapezoidal threaded rod is way too expensive, it would increase my selling price by $100 ! Still not convinced! Widgit! |

3.0 or 3.00 or 3.000 depending on the precision of the thread. The thing is that you can convert so easily between the two systems by a simple software calculation it seems hardly worth worrying about. One inch is exactly 25.4mm so 0.1" is 2.54. |
