I have this 50cm long V60deg lead screws taken from some machinery and I want to mount them on my machine. Machine shop guy advice me to review my design based on the available bearings on the market since the lead screw came with a miniature bearing 1/4ID / 5/8OD and he was right because I didn't find this bearings readily available but there are more common 1/4ID 3/4OD bearings. Also he suggested me to look for mounted ball bearings but my local bearings supplier said that the smaller size is 1/2ID for mounted ball bearings, I attach the photo of a mounted bearing. My question is are there this type of mounter ball bearings for small inner diameter? In the end I guess I will have to ask the shop to machine the mount for my bearings. I attach the image of the mount. I know this is kind of vague but I would like to know you opinion. Thank you. Konstantin. |

| The bearing you show in your thumbnail is not really the kind of bearing you need to use for a lead screw. It will not handle the thrust too well. You would be better off using a set of angular contact bearings. Search on this forum and you will likely find numerous threads on the use of angular contact bearings for a lead screw. While the dimensions in those other threads will not match your requirements, the basic information will still apply. You should have no problems finding an AC bearing with at least the correct ID and then you will simply have to adjust your block to accomodate the OD of whatever bearing you select. Scott
