Bushing vs bearings on tubes/rods | | Hello everyone.
I am planning towards my next machine, and right now the main considerations are about stiffness and precision.
It appears to me that the trend (on the economic side), regarding linear bearings, is to use tubes or metal rods as rails and bearings in V for every contact point.
Why is that ?
I have been looking out for parts here and there and this guy that disassembles copiers has this nice metallic rods 20mm (precision maybe) and I would really like to make the bushings for them out of selflubricated bronze and use that for linear motion.
Thank you.
