My table uses 3/4 x 6tpi acme screws. I used 3/4 id bearings in retainer blocks
I made. I used acme nuts for adjustment to pre load the bearings. I used spacers made out of alum tubing to jam up against the inner race of the bearing. The only machining to the screw was to reduce one end down to 1/2 inch for the Love joy connectors. I saw no reason to lathe the screw down
for the bearing. I liked using the larger bearings. My acme nuts are side drilled & tapped for set screws. This is easier should one want to replace the screws later. Undo the nuts and slide them through the bearings. Nick |
