Screw size ????

Hello Im having a brain fart. What mesurment on a screw do you look for to Have .100 movent in 1 revolution. Is this the pitch? or is it threads per inch. When Im looking for ballscrews all I see it like 5mm or 10mm I dont see them refering to threads per inch.

In this case .100 would be the lead of the thread. On single start threads the lead and the pitch are equal so it would also be the pitch. Lead and pitch are found by the formula P = 1/N where N is the number of threads per inch.

In the case of .100 lead your threads per inch would be 10.

Just picture it in your head.

.100 threads per inch would be one thread every 10 inches. It wouldn't even look like a screw.. more like a rod with some scratches on it.
