hello all I am installing a new nut on my mills x axis and having a hard time getting it lined up. the mill is an old clausing 8525 knee mill and both leadscrew supports are pined as well as the nut. I have removed the pins and have attempted to shim and move the nut untill i have smooth movement along the whole axis but this is giving me a hard time. the table was all setup without the screw for smooth movement prior to this attempt.
any suggestions on an easier more acurate method would help.
also to tighten the nut i need to disconnect the end supports and slide the table over to access the nut lock down bolts, this i think is part of my problem. maybe i just need to be more patient?
