    What kind of scew is this?

    What kind of screw is this called on this jorgensen pony clamp?
    Where can you buy just the threaded rod like that?

    Think it is an ACME thread, but could be a square thread.
    ACME would be more suitable for a jig anyway.
    Available from most engineering supplies companies.
    Google ACME thread.

    Is Acme thread a "type" of thread, or is it just a brand of "all-thread" that you see at the local hardware store? The ad for that pony clamp says it uses "Acme" thread by the way.

    Is square thread the type where the top of the thread is square rather than triangular (like you would find in a woodworking or metalworking bench vise)?

    Looks like I would want "Acme Precision threaded rod" designed for linear motion.

    Anyone want to suggest a good internet supplier who will sell small quanities to an individual?
