What would a ballscrew like this cost? A nice ground ballscrew like from NSK or another reputable company. 12mm diameter, 2mm pitch. Preloaded nut about 11" of travel And both ends machined to .25", one with threading to accept a pair of angular contact bearings, the threading to lock their inner races together. What would i be looking at for cost? |

| Relevant info - I just purchased two super precision NSK screws of similar dimensions for a machine I designed - recieved them 2 months ago. These were 32mm diameter, 2MM pitch, about 3" of travel, preloaded - 100% custom made. It took 8 months to get them. They were about $4K each. The pitch accuracy was in microns, though - if I recall, the total error down the legth was less than 6 microns away from perfection. These are used to position a mechanical element for a wide web painting process. The company now has 4 of these - two are being re-worked at NSK as we speak. Even re-work costs a fortune - $2800 each minimum. I know this is the extreme, but the precision screws are the price of a used car. Scott

| phantom, if you want something lower cost, check mcmaster.com or roton.com mcmaster lists 5/8" ballscrews at around $1.27 per inch, and square ballnuts to match are around $23. just search for ballscrew on the left side of the page, and they should come up. granted they wont be as accurate as a ground thk ballscrew, but they will be 1/100th the cost. |

| Check out misumi.com, i have ordered a set of ballscrews from them and they appear to be of very good quality. For what your asking for, I quickly saw it would cost you about $500 for C3 grade. You can specify any length and any end configuration, it is included in the price. Some modifications will cost a bit more, but very reasonable, like $14 for a keyway. I attached the pdf I had from them when i was ordering. |
