i am wondering what kind of chemical or smoething i could use to clean those bearings? since one of them i got got some dirt or something on it.. or should i use plain soap with water? or that would cause rust? second question.. what kind of grease am i susposed to use? the bearing will see lots of metal dust (plasma cutter) so any specific one you suggest me to use? thanks in advance Dan |

| what type of bearing specifically? if its a metallic rolling element bearing a petrolium based solvent usually works the best, that and some compressed air. contaminents are contaminents, no grease is going help you with a contaminated bearing. you are going to have to find a way to keep the contaminents out. but something quality, synthetic or moly-disulphide will be a good long term solution. if its a linear type rolling element bearing, without great port, several manufacurers make a specific light linear bearing spray lube. hope this helps. |
