Tight lead screws | | I just bought two new Kert leadscrews with grey delrin nuts. The lead screws are 1/2" twin lead, .200 pitch with a radiused apex and root. When I got them out of the box I tried to turn the nuts and was amazed at the friction. Awhile later after they and been sitting on my laptop, I tried them again as I was considering bad feedback. They turned much easier. Maybe not perfect, but much less friction. I live in Wisconsin and they must have been about 45* when first tried. They start to stiffen at 65~70*. So my questions are, how do you keep them smooth with ambiant temperatures? If they are tight at the temperature they wll be used in, can they be loosened some way? Should I just leave them and let them work into compliance?
Thanks. I really appreciate the knowledge base here. |
