    two spin 1204 trapezoidal screws

Hi, I just bought this Desktop CNC from China. The documentations says the the lead screws are: two spin 1204 trapezoidal screws. I am sure that something got lost in translation. I know its metric and I mesured the outside diameter, it give me 12.12mm. Anybody would know what the real name is? Double thread maybe? Does 1204 mean something special, size maybe? Grateful for any help.

    Paul :-) :-)

Two spin might mean 2 starts?
12 may be outside diameter and 4 is the lead or the pitch?
Can you measure the lead (how much does it move in 1 turn)?

What else do you need to know?

    two spin 1204 trapezoidal screws

Actually, the cnc has about .002" of backlash. I want to make a delrin/nylon splitnut with a spring to remore the backlash. So I want to buy a tap to make the thread in the delrin/nylon. I need to know what to buy.

You were right, it is 4mm. I just checked. I have been looking for screws and nuts for 2 start trapezoidal 1204. I can find 1203, I didn't see any 1204. I would like a tap to make my own nylon splitnut. Any idea were I can find these?

Even if you find a tap it will probably be expensive. I am not sure if this is an option for you but others have made their own tap from a spare section of screw. Failing that, it may be better to replace the screws with something more common so you can find the parts. Is there any indication of a manufacturer on the screw or nut?

Hi, thanks for your answers. Using part of a screw is brilliant idea. I probably can grind it tapered on the lathe. Its a bit of work, but I think I should be able to do that. I the mean time, I tried to adjust my CNC software to a backlash of .002" and it seam to be "ok" for now. Again, thanks for your answers...
