I am upgrading my 4x8 CNC plasma table, I am going from single 380 oz steppers on each axis to a 6x12 table with dual steppers on the X-Axis

The current gantry weighs 40 lbs and the increase in size will put me about 60 lbs. My max transit speed is about 250 IPM and I am shooting to get close to 500 IPM, to do this I am going going from a 3.4:1 belt reduction to a 5:1 gearbox. and going from a .625" pitch diameter spur gear to 1.5"

I found a 595 oz motor to play with which is 63% more powerful then the 380 oz stocker and since steppers tend to loose torque in upper RPM's this whole setup will reduce motor speed by 60% for the same travel speed. Current setup at 100 IPM is 170 RPM Motor speed down to 106 RPM at 100 IPM

While information is limited it seems that the stepper motors dump torque at 500 rpm. The new setup would run 471 IPM at 500 RPM I know this is a MAX transient speeds but getting the table speed up to 250 while only running the stepper at 265 RPM I should not have issues with loosing steps. My current setup runs in the 250 RPM range all the time.

Does this sound like a reasonable setup with reasonable expectations?
