Hi all,
Am looking to convert my Grizzly G4003 lathe to cnc. Will try to maintain some manual capability for now, but will go complete cnc eventually. (no rpm counter for threading so will thread manually for now. Need to get a better picture in my head before I do a counter)
So the question I have this sweet THK ballscrew. 25mm diameter. 10mm per thread 26 inches of travel. Is this to coarse to drive the Z axis?
Will be using Gecko G540 with Keling 381oz Stepper motors.
From what I can tell this should give me a resolution of .00019ish (Assuming no backlash) Which is extremely minimal with this leadscrew. Double line ball bearing super heavy duty. Just the nut is like 4 inches long.
Will I have trouble with torque or with to much inertia? Also I don't have a decent screw for the X axis any recommendations that come cheap? Say ebay.
As always thank you.
