Twin Pillow Block -- Cut in a Half OK?

Can you cut twin pillow blocks in a half to create 2 single pillow blocks without any accuracy or headache issues? I am asking this because I have never seen an actual pillow block in my life and cannot answer this myself at this point. Maybe someone has done this already? Input?

    Thanks. Erik

    I have done that.

First I packed the bearings as tight as I could with plastic grocery bags.
    Cut the bearing in half.
Pulled the plastic bags out from the cut side, this cleaned all the saw chips.
Baught new seals and pressed them in.
Havent used them but it looks like there wont be any issues.

In my experience they are 2 seperate runners and could be cut in half. You are going to lose half of your mounting holes though and they are fairly important features.
Why would you not just buy single blocks to begin with?

remove the bearings and cut it as square as u can.
drill 2 each new mounting holes
get 2 extra spring clips to hold the bearings in
    - i have cut a race out of thompson bearings and made them into open type.
after scraping the plastic burrs off , you couldn't tell the difference.
