| Enco ACME threaded rod, rate the quality? I am looking for leadscrews with a higher lead than the .050 current on my milling machine, so my search led me to two sources; Enco and McMaster Carr. Here is what I am looking at for the Enco: http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?P...&PMPXNO=941030 The McMaster Carr equivalent is about 5 more more costly. Is the quality of the Enco leadscrew questionable, to justify the price difference? |

I have 12 ft of it coming but i don't have the better MCMaster stuff to compare it with though. Are your current leadscrews allthread? If so I would assume that the acme leadscrews from enco would be atleast as accurate as allthread. |

| Try this one http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...PMT4NO=1825466 or this one for a bit more. http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...7562&PMCTLG=00

| I've got the cheap enco stuff in 1/2-10 and its about .009 out in one foot - it rusts freely too. Edit; its got some burrs on it to so needs a bit of attention before usig it with a plastic nut. The McMaster stuff rates between .009 and .003 on thier website. The Precision acme rod on the page Gerry's provided at MSC say's 0.003 /foot but I've replaced the enco with thier 1/2-5 precision and I cant measure any varience over three feet. It's definitely one of the aresa where you get what you pay for.. |

| Yea i think i am leaning toward the MSC now, thanks for the two links. The nook industry one looks really nice, from the picture at least. Has anybody used any of their products? Nook that is. |

| I bought the Keystone 1/2-8 2 start. It's pretty nice stuff. Very smooth finish on it. Haven't seen the Nook, but it probably looks about the same, just a little more accurate.

| I bought some 3/8 10 nook leadscrews from msc and they are beautiful quality. They are polished and they don't have any burrs or rough spots on them, not even on the roots and crests. Mine are stainless steel though, so they might have a better finish. |
