    Rails - Rails

    A newbie with questions.

For profiled rails like the THK are the load ratings in the flat direction or both? I have seen people mount these on edge for x axis's is that a good practice? For Y axis's is the preferred location on the face (on edge) or top and bottom? (flat)

For Long axis's 80 to 120" what are your thoughts about butting 2 shorter rails together to get the longer length?

then considering the butting question would round supported rail be better?

Check the THK catalog tech sections. You can butt ends of rails together. The instructions are in the tech section also.

The vertical load of the rails in horizontal position is given along with the specs for vertical upside down in horizontal and other positions. All directional moments are given as well.

    All available by "googling"
