    Coupler Recomendation and Sourcing

I just snapped another cheap Chinese Helix coupler today. 2nd one. I'm looking for replacements now. I don't want to break the bank either. I'm using 354oz-in Steppers. Bore size for stepper is 8mm, for the ballscrew it's 10mm. O.D. should be under 1" and length around 30mm can be a little longer. I'm looking at this one from SDP-SI. https://sdp-si.com/eStore/PartDetail...9&GroupID=1060 It looks like it might work The length is a bit longer than the old one. But, it's made out of Engineered Polymer?? I.E Plastic!! Anyone tried these? It's rated for 3.8 N.m which is enough torque.. Not sure how much backlash or anything.. But, at $16.76 each.. looks like it might be worth a try? Anyone else have a good source?

    Thanks, Connor

Misumi have a good selection, most are metric but they do have a range in Imperial.

Metric is good.. Who's a dealer for them? Doesn't look like I can get direct from them.

I got lost on their website..

Okay.. so, Odham's look good, but, is the pricing per hub, or complete unit ? Will those work if the motor isn't 100% parallel to the shaft? I know they can be offset.. They should be parallel.. but.. I drilled the holes by hand.. so, who only knows how accurate I was.

    Thanks, Connor

Yea, I figured it out.. Got a little lost on their site.. it's rather large!

Anyway... Oldham vs Flex? the Oldham's look cheaper, but, can't tell if that's for the complete coupler, or just 1/2.. Also, what if my shaft is off just a tad (parallel wise vs offset).

    Thanks, Connor.

Don't buy aluminum helical for steppers or servo's, if you must use helical, go the extra cost and use stainless, Oldham are good also.
The price is for a complete coupler.

Steppers are 354Oz-in, I've already found out the hard way about aluminum vs stainless.. Anyway, How much miss-alignment (not offset) can Oldham's handle if any? How about backlash? also, re helical the same as Beam ?

    Thanks, Connor

If you have mis-alignment I would suggest a disc coupler of some kind, Lovejoy make a version, absolute zero backlash.
These are among the best types but are usually costlier.
