You might "google" dovetail slides. There are a number of them commercially available. An SKF company, Gilman, produces them in Grafton, WI.

Hi
Refering to the snap attached, i was looking out for such slider mechanisms readily avaliable in market. We require it at a high quantity & want to procure it from ready market.
Any anyone help or suggest me what should be the keyword to type in google to search for such sliding mechanism
OR
Any hints for what should i look for ?
Thanks
Varma.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your reply.
I was missing the name DOVETAIL SLIDES.
I also searched google but found that mostly are designed to give the sliding motion through a screw mechanism.
I was looking out for dovetail design which are manufactured to give motion by hand of much smaller in size (may be 30 *40 * 70 mm).
Thanks

Comments Welcomed.
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
Hi
Can anyone mention some applications where such dovetail sliders are been used.
I refer to those which are motioned by hand feed & smaller in size so that it will be easy to check out the exisiting dovetails in market & purchase directly.

Hi, it might be easier if you told us what your trying to do. Even
hand/manually operated operations have gone to a "linear bearing" type movement.
The dove tailed slide needs a certain amount of clearance/slop to work without binding. A linear bearing eliminates this play and binding. There are linear bearings that use a bushing instead of balls or rollers.
Hope this helps, cary
As mentioned above, there are many types of slides. The picture in post #1 shows a dovetail slide. There are also box slides (rectangular cross section), roller slides, ball slides, ball-on-wire slides, "V" and "double V" slides, plain bushing, ball bushing and ????
Size is also a consideration. Descriptions like "small" and "large" are relative. Actual dimensions are far more helpful.
Would like to be more helpful myself, can you be more specific of your requirements?

Hi Richard
Thanks for your wonderful support.
I have attached a image including dimensions. I may compromise on sizes upto some extent.
Also i prefer a box type slide (rectangular type). I think my previous requirment of dovetail won't satisfy my purpose precisely.
Thanks

Lots of small linear (and rotary) slides are used for optics research. Look for "optical stage" or something similar.
Edmund Optics is one brand.
Matt
That is something related to optical.
I think Ramu needs a mechanical box type readymade assembly to accomplish his need.
Ash
Also the optical stage which you are refering to is driven by feedscrew & handwheel & used on machine tools.
He needs a readymade mechanism which can be moved by hand feed.
Am i right, Ramu ?
Yes you are absolutely right.
