i am looking to convert my tabletop mill to cnc, and was wondering if i have to replace the leadscrews for acme, or can i just replace the handles with stepper motor mounts and use factory leadscrews? absolute precision is not a must for me right now. any advice would be appreciated. thanks |

| You have not told us what type of mill that you have so it is hard to be specific with an answer. I have an X2 and I converted using the original screws but for the Z I added a 12/10 acme screw to raise and lower the head as hooking into the fine feed looked to complicated. Your best bet is to search this forum for other peoples conversions as you will find a lot of information. If you have an X2 the this is a fellow who used the fine feed method and original screws. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showth...version&page=4 What model of mill do you have George |
