    Arrow THK rail plugs

I phoned THK about these little plastic plugs- here's the info if anyone needs it.

These are called C-Caps and marked according to bolt size. Example:

    HSR15 rail- M4 bolt- C4 cap
    HSR20 rail- M5 bolt- C5 cap

The prices are about $0.16 for C4 and $0.33 for C5 (per cap).

Unfortunately, they don't sell them direct, not even from their online TOS store. When you go through dealer (like Technico):

    C4 cap $0.25
    C5 cap $0.50

Just an update to the thread. I pinged THK about plugs for my SHS15 rails. They need C4 plugs (4 for 4mm mount screws). They added them to the store for me (now $.025). Ordered up 62 for about $25 including shipping. So you can get them from THK direct now.

OK, so I got some of these plugs from THK. They are fairly hard plastic. A see no easy way to get them in the holes where they are not either a) too high or b) too low. Anyone have experience using them?

why don't you just hammer it in. it can't go deeper than the rail surface unless you are poking it in with something smaller than the cap.

Doesn't work like you think it would. Needs to be set around the edges slightly below because they basically push back some. A flush whack does not set them properly.

I see. well, maybe you can buy some other manufacture's caps. everyone makes them and the rail hole sizes are all the same. some european manufactures makes them in metal with rubber o-rings if you want to go nuts.

Bosch and Scheeberger both offers metal plugs. I assume most linear rail mounting holes are same size that you can use these on other manufactures rails too. I haven't done it personally so i can't guarantee anything.

I have an account with Bosch, looked them up. Mine are 7.5mm (THK SVS15R), their smallest is 11mm. They use some sort of press to get theirs in.
