    Lightbulb New[ish] bearing slide idea

    Hey guys, Im new to this forum, but I thought that I'd throw my idea out there and see what you all think;
    I've seen a design somewhat like the first and another variation like the second. (both somewhere on this site; i think the guy's name who started the post was m-something...it was "crazy idea _ _ _" or close to that) and I came up with a different variation that, since it has room for rail supports, allows for the use of a smaller diameter rail, and with a smaller rail, the leg lenght of the angle can decrease.

    Hi there,

    I think it's an interesting idea, at least with the last two drawings.
    I dont think the U bolt will work because it wont be threaded all
    the way around like that, and if it was made out of threaded rod
    stock when it was bent the threads would be closer together on
    the inside of the bend than the outside of the bend and thus nuts
    would not work after the bend. Maybe if it was bent in the shape
    of the capital letter "A" with a flat top so that all the sides are
    straight so the nuts would turn properly.
    The other two ideas look workable though. Perhaps some method
    of adjustment so that the wiggle room could be reduced, as it could
    be very hard to construct all those parts to exact specs without a
    machine shop on hand.

    MrKal, the first and second drawings were from another post[that I can't seem to find]. As far as the u bolt idea, it was discussed that using spacers[washers] to keep the bearings in place rather than threads and bolts. Im not sure if anyone has done this, but Im in the process of building mine,and plan on using my design.[third pic]

    Well so far, I already have enough bearings to try my hand at building this (I skateboard as well) and I've ordered angle aluminum and rods from McMaster-Carr. They should be here within a few days. I would've gone to the LHS, but $27.99 for aluminum angle that only has 1 1/2" legs and is only 5' long is rediculous. I couldn't convince myself it was worth it. SO, I came home and ordered twice that amount from Mcmaster .
