    Default Rack and Pinion drive

I have built one cnc router machine using the "Ajax screws" , I guess that is the name. I want to build another but I want to use rack and pinions. Is there a relation between the motor speed ( I have NEMA 23's) and the tooth spacing on the racks?

gear racks are typically dimetrical pitch, or metric, so there should be no guessing about this.

if you take a 14 dp gear rack and a 14 dp gear of 14 teeth, one rotation should equal pi inches of travel.

You can use any rack and pinion and
then domthe setup in your control software.

just need to do some backlash compensation.
