    Default Belt For X Axis

Hello i am concidering switching from a lead screw drive to a belt drive on my next build because i want the length and i cannot get any lead screws that are at a reasonable price at 8 ft or longer. so ive been looking at this site RPP 8M Pitch Polyurethane Steel Open End is there a belt system that someone can recommend for this application or should i steer away from the belts ? also is it neccesary to gear my stepper motors for torque i see this alot in these types of machines.

Belt drives like that are common in 3D printers, but not in CNC routers which need to handle a lot of counter-force. I'd suggest going with rack and pinion drive, if your X axis is too long for screws.
