I have seen this design for ages>
However after using it on a couple of my DIY plywood machines for about a year, I was finding that the angle bar was not really good to hold the bearings unless I sent it off to a machine shop and someone precisely drilled the holes with a Bridgeport.
I also had issues with the bolt threads a little bit. So I came up with this:
Basically I 3D printed the V block that holds the bearings.
It also allowed me to design a method to bolt this to aluminum extrusion and thru the steel plate I use.
Several naysayers on facebook have commented that it will deflect, but the load is well within the strength of the plastic I used. I also tested it with a 200 pound load and it performed flawlessly.
I assembled, epoxied, and bolted it together.
