HTD3 or HTD5 Optimum timing pulley sizes for least backlash
Hello,
I'm designing a CNC router roughly 1100mm x 800mm, I plan to drive the ball screws (16mm) via timing Belts and Pulleys. The HTD series seems to be a popular choice. I'm wondering however, since I'm going with a 1:1 ratio is there an optimum tooth count that exhibits the least amount of backlash? Also, in 1:1 setups does the tooth count have an affect of the torque transmitted?
Re: HTD3 or HTD5 Optimum timing pulley sizes for least backlash
larger the pulley diameter the lower the belt tension needed for reliable operation. no idea on the minimum number of teeth as it relates to backlash. with a large enough pulley and enough tension the backlash doesn't show up instantly as the belt slips in the cogs, it takes time for the belt to walk, like a v belt slipping at a rate of .2% where as if the belt is loose then it will show up instantly.
