Smile New to laser cutting

I'm looking in to laser cutting to solve a fabrication problem of which I'm considering a Laser as one solution. I'm cutting a grade of high silicon steel from .003 to .015 thick, small parts .500 to 3.000 in diameter with a fair amount of features and tolerances plus or minus .001. A small cutting envelope, say 12" by 12" so and up, I'm looking for feedback on commercial machines out there, comments about them and cost. Their cutting speed, operational cost type best for my uses.
Thanks,
Steve

I think a small fiber laser engraver with flat bed may solve your purpose, you may visit www.silasers.com

Hello. I am assuming that you are going to cut the steel as well as engrave it. If that is so then 20 watts isn't going to do anything for you and i sure would,t use Bystronic. I dont know how much money you are looking to spend but the laser i would recommend is Trumpf. They are the best lasers on the market and anyone who has been into lasering for long will tell you this. If you are only cutting material .015" thick then you would be absolutly amazed at how fast these lasers are. I would guess you could cut .015" steel at probably 250 inches per minute or more and that may be slow. Your hole sizes are nothing and could go down as small as 1/16" on material that thin. The ones i am talking about are 3000 watt up to 5000 watt. A 3000 would be more than you would need but this is an older generation from Trumpf. I think now they start at 3200 watts for the new ones. I dont know what kind of cycle times you are looking for but these machines would absolutly impress you at just how fast and precise they cut and the engraving can be so detailed that you could draw a detailed picture if you wanted to and could program it. I would recommend calling the experts at Trumpf and let them guide you with your specific application. They are located in Connecticutt.

.015 material speed time

id have to look but i think ive only had to do down to .020 mat on the trumpf laser and id have to guess/remember it would run about 600-800 inches a minute if not faster.
