The laser gods hate me

I had just aligned the mirrors properly and for the first time I actually my hx 3040 working properly! When we had to have a couple of subtle dips in the power. It finished cutting the object.

However the machine is no longer communicating with my PC. I just get com error 2. I restart it all and get no USB key. Restart it all again and this time get the com error 2 message again.

Can anyone be more specific on this error message?

I guess ones these things has died:
Serial port (hopefully)
Laser circuit board
Softdog

If its the latter 2 where can I get them from!?

You can try to install the software again to see if it can work again.
You can buy the two things from the person who sell you the laser machine if he is the manufacture and also ask help for them, they should be special

Hi Magritte.

With my laser ( XYZ6090, lasercut 5.1, USB ) it matters which port the softdog goes into.
On the laptop computer the softdog only works in the rear ports, not the side ports.

Also, the USB cable at the machine end does not have a very good fit and sometimes it will work itself loose .
Check the plug is making a good connection.


I hope the problem is simple to fix.

Thanks for help no success to report yet though. I have reinstalled newlydraw and tested the serial cable on my printer. The softdog is working because when I take it out it wont even let me load newlydraw. So it must be the circuit board I guess.

If anyone can recommend a place to get a standard to upgraded board that would be great.
