We have just got a second hand rabbit 80w laser engraver and first problem was sparks arcing from tube end to machine frame. solved that with silicon sealant. It ran well for half an hour then sparks came from the tube power supply, see photo. lots of burnt plastic, mostly the fan next to the HT outlet. Anyone know what's going on? should we buy a new power supply? have we got a deeper problem? |

| Jim, It appears the HV transformer connections have been arcing to the case and possibly resulted in the fan failing. These could both be related to excess input voltage, set for 110v and you have it hooked to 220v? Either way it's a mess now. Depending on how long it ran with these problems it may be repairable, in fact it could just require a new fan, some wiring and re-insulating the HV. Zax. |

| We checked if there is a swich to select 110 or 220 v for mains supply; no. It was ok when the last owner showed it working, and it is a UK spec machine. Some folks on this forum have had cracked tubes lead to this arcing problem, but i can't see any damage to our tube. we hope to be getting a fresh psu from importer as it's really still new. jim |
