I'm getting a 100watt laser with a power supply, my question is do I need 220v to run it or will 110v volt work? I'm thinking that with 110v the power supply will not develope enough power to create 100watt? Inlighten me please.

| Litografa is correct. It is no different to a 100W light bulb, yes the voltage is much higher but the current is proportionally lower - so the power is the same. Now of course a 100W output laser requires considerably more input power due to losses in converting the energy but still only requires milliamps at it's arc voltage of 12-15kV. The input requirements however depend on your power supply, if it accepts 110v you'll get the correct output. If it has 220-240v input then you'll need either a step up transformer or a 220v connection. Zax. |

| when you buy the power supply, you should tell your supplier your electric situation: 220v/110v, 60Hz/50Hz. And you should tell them your plug style, for example: European style, USA style, UK style. But i think a responsible supplier should check these with you before delivery. Litografa is correct. Do not worry about the 110v. |
