I want one with a motion sensor. That would make an awesome burgler alarm!

How many watts is that Laser?

I wonder what it is using to adjust the beam width when at different distances/angles?

I bet the optics are expensive.

The datasheet (on their website) says multikilowatt solid state laser with 0.64mm spot size. I saw one with a 4kW Rofin and another with a 6kW Trumpf laser.

It has a complex lens system, 4 for collimating the beam, another 3 for focus and 1 more for zoom. It has some scanning mirrors too, to reduce robot movement. The scanning head calculates distance and location.

It takes the title for coolest laser robot I've seen, although the US air to ground laser that was demonstrated recently isn't bad either. It has a way to go but the potential is there.

Zax.

Where I work, they bought a 10000 watts(10Kw) laser robot welder.

It is a monster, mounted on 80 feet rails.

Really nice.

I can see it now:

1st shift guy: Yep, it's all setup, all you gotta do is run the first part, then take the part to quality.

2nd shift guy: Uh..., ok?

1st shift guy: Good luck, see you tomorrow.

2nd shift guy: Press cycle start (run like hell)

LOL

No light curtain, will save you from this thing!

Nasty robot.
I went to the yearly Tech Fair here in Stockholm last week. It was kind of dissapointing, almost no CNC machines at all. Some super fast laser engravers but no 5 axis monsters.
ABB was there though with this setup. It was pretty awesome to see in real. If someone stepped too close they came to an absolut stop within a split second. The robots were bigger too, they went from the floor and 3,5 metres up. I recorded a clip with my phone, will post it later.

From the tech fair.

Well, it started as a laser thread and now it's about robots.
