Is there a general term used for only cutting 3 sides of material? Where the 4th side becomes a datum edge. Due to sheet size and part size being tight often time we have to cut only 3 sides of material, where the 4th side is clamped into the machine’s X axis and that is used as the zero datum. The operators here call it “common cutting”, which there’s nothing common about it and no cutting at all. We do common cut on nested items from time to time. TIA, |
