I have a GCC spirit 25 watt model that is about a month old. Yesterday I started having a problem. May be you can help me with it. I have been engraving acrylic at speed 100 and power 50 with excellent results. Yesterday it started to distort the image being engraved. I lowered the speed down to 75 and have increased the power 60 am getting a good engraving result but am wondering why is it not giving me the same results at 100. Now I am engraving at 20 and power 14 The other problem that has started is that after engraving when it starts to cut the acrylic sheet the origin gets moved by about an eighth of an inch to the right and so the matter engraved is not centered on the cut piece. One more thing that I have noticed is that when I was engraving at speed 100 the whiteness was more now it is less even though I have increased the power to 60. I am attaching images of distorted engraving off centered cutting and also an image of a piece engraved at speed 100 when it was working perfectly. I hope you will be able to help me with this problem. I imported this machine we have a local distributor here but my machine is the first machine he has imported but he has no trouble shooting exprience. I am going to contact GCC technical department as well but may be you can help me with this too.![]() In this all the engraving got distorted. How can this be corrected at speed 100? ![]() In the second image the top piece is cut off centered because of automatic change in origin by the machine. I hope you will be able to assist me in solving this problem. Regards and Thanks |

Hi Desi, Almost certainly a mechanical issue. It will most likely be dirt on the belts or tracks. Go through the cleaning procedures in your manual. If you don't have cleaning procedures outlined then carefully clean all the tracks, belts and wheels. Because it happens half way along it is almost certainly something to do with the x-axis mechanics. For it to change so abruptly as the drawing you made, it is very unlikely to be an alignment or focus issue but still worth checking after a good clean of the moving parts. Dave |
