| why would you use Oxygen or Nitrogen assist gas? That is going to get expensive in a hurry! Get an air filter/dryer and just use regular compressed air. 10 to 30 psi is what I use when cutting woods and some plastics. You could use Oxygen to cut thin steels if a 130 watt chinese laser will do that. Is it a dc excited glass tube laser? I was not aware that they made those larger than around 100 watts...and even then I didn't think the 100 watt versions really did 100 watts (or not for very long). If it is some new RF excited 130 watt Chinese laser I am very interested to hear where you got it, and how much they sell for? |

You and me, both! The Chinese are quite adept at copying even the most technologically advanced toys, so you would think they could combine their knowledge of microwaves and sealed CO2 lasers with a US-based design and make it on the cheap. I'd love to get a hold of a $1k RF-excited laser tube.

| Bah... that's a horrible price. I can pick up a used laser for several thousand less, have it refilled for $1k, and still come out ahead. If someone shows me a 60W RF-excited laser for under $2k I'd be all over it.
