i have read a few times about laser polishing/finishing beeing tested ( used already by Mitutoyo for their products that need perfect surface ) I wonder if any smaller cutting machines could be adapted for this kind of surface treatment ? Has any of you ever thought about using lasers for steel polishing? I have read that surface imperfections can be brough way under a micron peak to peak with multiple passes of pulsed laser ( excimer type i believe) Neway i would be interested in hearing your thoughts about the possibility of using this tecnology from DIY standpoint ( can't afford a 100 000$+ machine for what i will be doing with it cie : polishing engine bearing parts and such..) thanks for your time/info   |
