Shopping for a large (150w+) laser

(Hi, I'm new and going to ask a question that's been beaten to death...)

I've spent a few days reading through everything I can here (and everywhere else), and was looking for some specific feedback from anyone that already has a larger / powerful Chinese machine.

Me: I own a professional acrylic fabrication business, and we currently run a CNC router and a 50w laser from ULS... so this isn't our first encounter here. I service both machines myself, and am competent with stepper and servo control systems. I'd buy another ULS machine without hesitation, but for something big they're over $60-70k.

We're looking to get into a large (4'x4') machine that can cut fast and accurately. Engraving doesn't really matter. I know to buy something with a Reci tube, and am OK if we have to swap out the driver/controller with something from the US (FSLaser / LightOjbect). Machine must be FDA approved, and have basic safety interlocks (I suppose I can add these myself)

I realize this isn't going to be the plug-and-play experience the ULS machine was, and I have no misconceptions about what these are. Honestly, if I can get a solid, serviceable platform to improve upon, I'd probably be very happy.

I've spoken with XYZ, EXLaser, and Goldensign - today I also emailed G.Weike.

Question 1 - if you have recent experience with any of these, especially larger machines, I'd love to hear some long term feedback. Several of the posts I've seen drop off after the first day or two of use.

Question 2 - is there another company I should contact as well?

Many thanks!

Also: I fully plan to document the entire experience, from ordering onward, here - including comparisons to my ULS machine and other systems. This machine is going be used heavily in a commercial setting, and I'd love to be able to help others with what we learn.

Well, I did it... thank you to everyone that emailed or replied with info.

I spent a lot of time looking at all of the options, and ended up buying a machine from Melody at G. Weike. 1200x1500, 150W Reci, and a bunch of goodies to go with it.

I'm going to start a new thread to document the process from order (now!) to installation and operation.

Dave
