5.2.2. The tuning is very much motor/machine/encoder dependant. There is no universal procedure. Before you start to tune drive you should mechanically disconnect motor from the machine and you should have the E-stop switch very close to your hand. An incorrectly tuned drive can violently oscillate which can do mechanical damage to the machine/motor or overheat the drive. It is also a good idea to start the tuning at a lower voltage (if you can drop down the voltage) to familiarize yourself with tuning. There is much less mechanical/electrical energy. I have Panasonic servos displaying the aforementioned oscillatory characteristics at rest; I am curious what PC based software if any can be used to tune/correct these deficiencies? ![]() Thank you in advance |

| What drive are you using? How old? Does it have any connection to a computer? How do you adjust the tuning parameters? I have used Allen Bradley and Baldor servo drives. Both come with a free software used to autotune the servos. It has worked well for me on a variety of motor sizes and makes. Matt |
