HPC lasers any good?

Hi.

I'm looking to buy a laser in the UK, and I keep coming back to HPC lasers, though there doesn't seem to be much comment on them anywhere on the web.
I was wondering if anyone had heard any good or bad things about them...or if there is an alternative company I should consider?

The same you can buy in China. For half price. Or less.

No doubt...but from which company? Is their support as good as having it based in the UK? I don't mind spending a little extra for ease and piece of mind...

The HPC is basically the same as you can buy direct from China but it has the import taxes paid, it has been tested and comes with excellent support, back-up and spares service.

I heard HPC service can be pretty slow and poor - I bought direct from China, or so I thought, but it was shipped from the UK. If you're looking to get one of the 40W cheap ones then it doesn't really matter where you buy from, they're all pretty poor, but for a more expensive one you might as well try hpc or similar.

I have a HPC laser, it was delivered within a week and have ordered spares which were delivered next working day. HPC is a small but growing company, they have a good relationship with the company in China so the machines are prepared for the UK market (3 pin plugs, CE certificates etc).

The machine was tested and set up before delivery and worked out of the box - I have heard of some horror stories from damage caused via import handling to tubes not working - see 2" arc thread ;-) To be honest yes I may have saved some cash buying direct but I am glad I spent the extra and was up and running and the machine paying for itself the next day!

I have no financial relationship with HPC but am a MOD on the forum which I am happy to do in my spare time as a satisfied customer!

If you need a referee I will be able to find a local company for you.
We stock all the parts for piece of mind!!
Our company house report is good.
Don't give large amounts of money to anyone until you've got your laser..There are some not so reputable traders out there.
