Hi guys, I've skimmed the forum before and heard of some horror stories with Chinese lasers. The company I work for is a small business, and unfortunately we can't afford to spend $30-40k to buy a new fiber laser. We have a rep in China who went out and recommended us a YAG laser from Shenzen Blue Sword. Our main requirement is that it has to be able to mark metals. The price ($11k) is very appealing, even with the cost of shipping added. Now, what should we expect when dealing with a Chinese manufacturer? I asked about the software they use, and they said it's English interface with CorelDraw and Photoshop support PS: Sorry for posting this in 2 forums mods. |

| Do due diligence and your homework. I have never heard of them.. 1) Google earth their factory , ask for pictures and videos of their production facilities , ask them for ALL their certificates, Check if they an ali baba gold supplier , ask for other western references on machines they have sold , ask em about tech support - do they have online skype tech support and so on. Just be VERY careful... Would you give $11k for goods you havent seen work or even seen in the flesh to a stranger in your country? Why would you do the same in a foreign country thats a zillion miles away..... |

No I do not. I am not in charge of making the purchase, I'm just an engineer at this company. However, more likely than not, it's going to be my responsibility to get this thing up and running with our products. There is no support in America, but they do offer a 1 year warranty. However, we'd have to pay for the round trip of the product being sent back. One positive in dealign with this company is that we do have this guy in China, and it's a lot better than dealing with a company blindly. Supposedly he's visited the factory, and he said they're not an A list company, but they are known. To the previous question: We are looking for a laser that can mark on stainless steel, kovar (nickel-cobalt alloy), nickel, and cobalt. Our products are in the semi-conductor industry, and the smallest one that we'd be marking is only 2.2 x 2mm. Therefore, the size over the character has to be under 1 mm. One big thing that we need is that we palettize. Meaning, we're gonna need some type of x-axis on the machine to be able to handle these multiple trays. Each tray (palette) is 4.52" x 4.52". I have looked at the Full Spectrum fiber laser, but I don't think it's worth paying 40k, when the American counterparts are around the same price. If any of you have any suggestions, please let me know. |
