It's not that hard, you just have to meticulous. If I were in your shoes again, I would start by following all the wires and check their connections. I had a loose plug that jiggled loose in shipment that gave me a headache on the first fire. Then I would wipe off all the grease that is on the machine and replace it with some good teflon based machine oil. The grease serves a purpose of keeping the moving surfaces from rusting during the transport, but it's not a great lubricant. I cleaned mine first with a rag, then with DNA on a rag to get all the grease up. Then I used this stuff that comes in what looks like a pen with a needle tip. Every couple weeks I re-oil the machine. More often if I use it a lot. And while oiling it serves a 2nd purpose, you have to manually move all the parts on their axis so you can make sure there are no hang ups or kinks in the wire track. Then you should be ready for a test fire, alignment, then your first engraving... Not too bad.
