i have a laser cutting machine and i have a question related to it's adjustments.. in different machines' adjustments i've noticed that the variables are always the material, power, speed and the DPI , according to the material and it's thickness eg:that's what i found in one of the companys. acrylic-.0.25 thick for vector : power =75 speed =0.8 DPI=5oo but in my program ''lasercut 5.3'' for a machine (lc 1290 -tube power =80 w) .. there's nothing called DPI so is there another name for it ?? if you have an information about the adjustments for this program(lasercut 5.3) please help or if you know anyone that can help or any links.. i'd really appreciate it regards ! |

| In LaserCut you change the DPI by changing the "Scan Gap" setting when you select "Engrave". If you search this forum for "Scan Gap", there have been several charts posted that convert different DPI settings to scan gap settings. I don't have all the settings in front of me but I remember that 300 DPI equals .086 scan gap. It is only for engraving and has no effect on cutting. Hope that helps. |

| As Skip mentioned above it's the scan-gap quite easy to calculate it's the horizontal distance between to lines the laser engraves So if you want a resolution of 600 Dpi the scan gap is 25.4 mm ( 1 inch) divided by 600 = 0.0423 mm this ofcourse is only true when you set the lasercut software to metric, if you set it to imperial you should dive 1 by 600 Happy lasering Ferry..... |

| step by step: 150(DPI) - 25,4 mm (1in) x - 1 x=150/25,4 x=5,905511811 points/mm 1 mm / 5,9055 = 0,169333333 (scan gap) Put it into excel and you have your own calculator ![]() or simple way: 25,4/150 = 0,1693... |
