You can not cut raster files. Only vectors.

There are 2 distinct versions of a graphics file, vector and bitmap/raster.

In a vector format it specifies the drawing using locations of points, lines, curves etc. This type of file can be cut. The raster files are generally images and are suitable for engraving or depending on the actual image you may be able to vectorize it.

Corel is an excellent tool for vectorizing but there are other solutions also.

WMF is an odd-ball since it can contain both vector and raster, so depending on your particular file that may be the best one to use.

If you post the wmf I will convert it for you using Corel and other software to see which provides the best results. I use Artcam, SignGo, Gerber Omega and of course Newlydraw for the laser.

Zax.

I use inkscape to convert to vector and then import into illustrator to save as a dxf

You can use vector magic, their online version will allow you a few free conversions to try it. And I gotta ask, what is that file of? It kinda looks like a bridge or some sort.
