right now i am externally venting my laser (which is primarily used to cut 1/8" acrylic). It's really stinking up the place though, cause the hoses being used, and the length the hoses have to run. so i really want to get a fume extractor/HEPA filter, but i want to know about budget choices. Can i hook up a big fan to some sort of HEPA filter from Grainger? Anyone got some mild DIY setups (not full builds). or links for fume extractors < $600? |

| (ok, probably not the 'greenest' advice... but) A HEPA filter will only remove the particles (and seriously restricts the flow), for the odor you'll need an activated carbon / charcoal filter or equivalent. I would actaully suggest you keep with the external venting, but perhaps add a booster fan at the exit. This will help draw the air out and prevent small leaks from letting odor into the shop. Zax. |
