Hi all.... My name is Lou and im an alcoholic (crap.... This isnt A&A????) My name is Lou I'm from Whitby Ontarrio, Canada I'm new to this wonderful world if CNC, new to this forum and also new to importing from over-seas. First I like to congratulate the moderators and members for doing such a great job in helping newbies like me get their feet wet, and also provide a place on the web we can turn for answers and support. Very recently I have been communicating with a rep (Mike) from XYZ-Tech, to purchase the servo Exlas 6090 laser engraver. At the present time I'm in the final process of finalizing the deal. The unit will include a 80 watt 9000 hr laser tube, motorized table, honey comb, red-light attachment, chiller, rotary attachment, spare optics and a spare 80 watt tube. Before this deal is finalized I would be interested to know if any members had or have any good or bad dealing with XYZ-Tech .... I would appreciate any input or suggestion in regards to importing the laser engraver. Thanks Lou T. |

I'd be concerned about buying anything with a name so close to Exlax. Other than that, I know my plan is to learn enough Chinese to say "Please don't eat me! I know how to fix stuff." Or something like that. I'm no help at all, am I?

Lou, Good choice. XYZ-Tech are reputable and offer good quality products. I have heard of a few minor problems with the servo system but nothing major, just some calibration issues. If ordering a spare tube I would check on the shelf life, generally 18-24 months. If you expect to run the machine at full power or just want to ensure a backup is available it would be ok but don't expect to put it in 2yrs later and get full life from it. If you don't already have a customs agent organized I would do that now, well before the machine arrives. They can make certain you have all the paperwork and the correct harmonized tariff codes in advance to reduce any storage costs or other problems at the port of entry. Zax.

So far my experience dealing with XYZ-Tech has been on the positive side....kudos to Mike from XYZ. I appreciate the response Zax...i did talk to a broker today and he did advise me on a number of things. There are certain things that i still have to check with Mike (XYZ-Tech), ill post them so everyone has a heads up when ordering from abroad. First and foremost....all pre-assembled units imported into Canada have to be CSA compliant. All labeling on the crate have to meet Canadian compliance. Crate information...if wood is used to crate the item, proof must be provided to you by shipper that fumigation procedures have been taken from place of origin... A Commercial invoice, Bill of Lading and your GST number must also be submitted to your broker. So far all fees have been calculated to be at proximately $650, that includes truck shipping with a tailgate. ......will keep posting my experience with XYZ-Tech Lou T.

I did pick it up, but because of all the cold weather I haven't been able to seal my wood floor in my shop, Hopefully I'll be able to un-crate everything next week and put it in the shop. Packing is awesome. No cardboard packing, it's all wood boxing on steel skids.
