Hi Cbc,

Welcome to the forum, some of us need plenty of help here.

This is an old chestnut but I am still having the occasional issue with horizontal 'banding'.
Everyone seems to have their own views on exactly what causes this effect and I am currently exploring mathematical rounding errors as the cause.
As a newcomer your views / suggestions would be more than welcome.

Tweakie.

NooB question, but what is horizontal banding? And do you have a close pic of it?

It's one or more horizontal bands of different (incorrect ?) contrast. It is not so easy to notice close-up, it is more pronounced when viewed at a distance.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion but the horizontal paths are defined a Y steps and these are the same no matter what the horizontal speed.

I have problem when engraving big photo ( 90x60 cm)
i use Rabbit laser from china.

When i do that, it couldn't engraving all in one, must be separated to many files.
Reason:
1. not enough memory on machine
2. Lasercut program couldn't accept big photo.

After i did that with many files, it makes some gap between photo.
so it's have horizontal and vertical line between photo.

do you have solution for that?

Talking banding

when engraving photos the only thing i can think of is converting ur photo to black and white ,and then to a bitmap setting this fixes the banding but u will have to play with ur speed and power setting each maching is different.but u will have to invert colors this will make tiny dots and not banding if this does not help i will see what i can find out......

if just engraving one small photo smaller than 60x30cm, i already do that thousands time perfectly.
but when engraving big photo 60x90cm, it limited by machine memory and software capacity. so must be separated to more than 4 photo.
Then when combine that photo on machine, it always make tiny line on horizontal and vertical line between that photo, although i already make no gap between that photos
