Hi, We are testing a lot of things with our new laser cutter. There are some things that we have some questions about. If we cut carton or paper, it has a black (burned) outline and is smells a lot. I can understand that it will burn, but I have seen some examples online where there is no burned outline when they cut paper. Does this has to do with the laser strength or speed? Another question. We are using Coreldraw a lot. However, when we cut a circle, it is not complete round. You can see the nodes, so it looks like the circle is build up out straight lines. How do you export a perfect circle out of Coreldraw? |

| Siemed, To cut paper or card without the blackened edge you need quite a lot of power and cut it very fast. The scanner laser heads are the best solution but they are limited in usable table size. As far as smell is concerned you must use an extraction system to remove the fumes from the workplace, the fumes from many materials can be toxic and dangerous to health. Sorry don't know anything about Corel Draw. Tweakie.

| You can cut paper and card without burnt edges, thicker cardboard box cartons are more difficult but acceptable results should be possible. Increase the air assist or if you have it available try using an inert gas instead of CDA. You will get better results using a higher power and faster speed, but you only want just enough power to cut the material and nothing more. I am not very familar with Corel but there should be a parameter to set the accuracy of exports. The smaller the tolerance the more small sections it will generate, providing you have good look ahead vectoring in the driver it won't make a difference except for the more rounded resulting circle. In Corel you may also need to break it into 4 arcs but this may be automatic. Zax. |
