Need a help(about purchasing laser engraver)

Hi, I am looking for a laser engraving machine for my friend who wants to do some engraving work one leather bags. I am interested in the following machine http://www.yorklaser.com/1290_engraver.html but I don't know whether it is nice. I hope I can get some suggestions from your guys.

What should I am pay attention to when purchasing the laser engraving machine? Shall I send check some samples from the supplier before purchasing?

I would compare their product and pricing with the other vendors as they all offer similar units.

Engraving leather produces a strong odor but the results can be impressive.
