Synrad 48-2 25 watt no beam

Hi from France!
I have a Mercury LaserPro 1548 engraver with a Synrad 48-2 25 watt laser. There is no beam from the laser though power is supplied OK - the green LED is on - and the red laser LED pulses when a signal is fed to the machine which seems to indicate the the PWM signal is being processed OK.
So, I think the problem is within the laser itself. Are there any serviceable or replaceable internal parts (like transistors) inside? Are they accessible? I can't afford to send it back to Synrad and I'm hoping it's not a regassing issue - though that seems unlikely as there is no beam at all.
Hope somebody can help or advise!

As I understood laser is out of warranty? How long it works before? Remember - may be some time ago power slightly drop down?

Magonagal - check PM.
Synrad 48 have two LED indicators, Firestar - three.

The laser dates from 1999 but hasn't done a lot of work. It definitely only has 2 LED's on the end of the laser (there is a remote one marked "laser" on the control panel which does not light). It's an OEM model so there is no keyswitch and the sub D socket has the standard blanking plug with internal links. I am doing some further electrical checks and will post the results if they reveal anything. Thanks to all!

if there is no light in the laser tube, maybe it is time to change a new one, if you can see the laser out from the laser tube, please check whether the transfer mirror or focus mirror was in the right position.

Do not think so. 1999 should be working few years more. Propably it is power transistor.
There is no such things like "transfer mirror or focus mirror" in Synrad 48 lasers.

Sounds to me like an internal problem as the red LED pulses to indicate a TTL signal and correct 30Vdc supply.

If all else fails and only then..........
There are many c'sk cap head screws to remove from the bottom cover of the tube, inside inspect the two RF circuit boards looking for blackness or discolouration around the power transistors (there are one or two power transistors on each board depending on the age or model you have) as this is the most common failure.
The RF power transistors can be replaced and if necessary the board repaired (all signs of conductive carbon must be removed etc) but observe extreme care when disconnecting the output capacitor from the tube risers (no strain or excess movement of the risers is allowed).
Contact me if you need more details.

Tweakie.
