New Used Larken 24/24R I have just bought a used in REALLY great condition Larken 24/24R router. 1) I need a operator manual - can I download one somewhere? I have downloaded Starcam 1.85 and StarCNC 2.06 already. I also downloaded and printed the manual for the software. Is there another manual - for the machine? 2) I have a laptop with Win XP - no serial port/parallel port Can I some how use the USB port to hook it up to the control box I have a USB Serial converter a 9pin to 25 pin converter. I hooked that all together and plugged in to the control box but the machine did not respond Leo

It runs for the Parallel port on any windows PC. Your best to run it from a desktop pc though, but you can get older Laptops with a parallel port. Be sure you plug the computer and control box into the same surge-protected power bar and then plug the router power cord directly into the wall.

Getting going Larry, I got an old desktop - and I have the spooler software running. I beleive there is an issue with the z-axis stepper being wired wrong. The previous owner admitted that they fooled around with the plug going to the z-axis stepper. I will be sending pics to your e-mail address either later today, or tomorrow. Thanks for your responsiveness and promptness. I am sure this machine will run well. It apears to be a well constructed machine. Nothing cheap about it. I will be in touch. Leo

Z axis Larry, I got my Z axis to move up and down in jog mode without the router mounted. WITH the router mounted it does not go up. The stepper motor is not strong enough to move the router UP. Do you have a stronger stepper motor? My email is receiving but not sending. Leo

From your picture, the Z motor is not wired correctly. Someone rewired it. It needs to be connected in Series for best performance and torque. I have it on paper if you have a fax. Larry
