Anyone know how to get pulley off shaft of my motor for Lagun Mill FTV-1? Just purchased the machine for hobby use and in my infinite wisdom I brought it on trailer over to shop with 460 3 phase to test out the motor and smoked it because it was wired for 220V 3 phase. Now I have the bad news that I'll be dropping minimum $250 to have the motor rewound from calling rebuild place in Minneapolis. 3 of the wires are shorted to the case of the motor. Here's a picture of the 2HP motor with the pulley still on it. I see no set screws or even place to grab with a puller to get this thing off the shaft of the motor. | Got the pulley off with a puller pretty easy. Now I see the burnt windings. Burnt windings pic: http://picasaweb.google.com/hansw3/L...26908401953922 Not being a electric motor person I don't know what my options are here. Could I have this rebuilt to be a single phase 220V? Is there a another motor out there that would replace this one instead of me rebuilding this? |

| The wiring is tricky on the Lagun 9 lead motor. I spent a few hours researching how to change it correctly the first time, as it arrived 440v. I have had plenty of motors rewound, and the "Winding Wizard" puts back what he takes out. He could make it 220v only, instead of 220/440, but not single phase from three phase. I have another Lagun which has no motor, which will be set up with a standard C faced Baldo Super E, without the variable pulleys, and with an inverter. The variable pulley systems are too noisy, and require maintenance, though the Lagun system is easier than the Bridgeports. If you CNC it in the future, then this part is already done. Jim |

| I have a guy looking at it right now. He said there's a chance it could still run on 220V. Only 2 of the 9 leads are shorted to the case. For simplicity I'm sticking with the variable speed head on it. I have a lathe and surface grinder as well that I just acquired so I have to make a rotary phase converter anyhow. I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on the lagun motor though. I will swap over to a c-face and adapt the shaft to the clutch if I have too. |

| Found out motor is toast today. I picked up a 182TC frame that is a face mount. The shaft of the motor is bigger than the original motor. I am planning to bore out the clutch shiv hole and re broach the keyway. Looks like there's enough material to do it. |
